Stanley Gerson Juarez, 22 of Hempstead, who was already being held at the Nassau County jail for another slashing attack, was charged Tuesday, June 4, with murder in the machete hacking death of Bryan Steven Cho Lemus, 18, of Uniondale, said the Nassau County Police.

The announced was made during a press conference in Mineola by Nassau County Police, along with Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder and Nassau District Attorney Madeline Singas.

Lemus, whose body was found buried in the Massapequa Preserve, has been missing since Aug. 24, 2016. Police believe he was lured to the location and then attacked with machetes by MS-13 gang members.

According to detectives, during an unrelated homicide investigation, information was received that human remains may be found in the Massapequa Preserve.

On Friday, May 24, homicide detectives canvassing the preserve, were able to identify and locate a gravesite. Human remains were discovered in a gravesite and removed to the Medical Examiner’s office where they were identified as Lemus, police said.

Ryder said additional arrests could be pending in connection with the case, but he does not believe there are any additional MS-13 victims buried in the preserve.
